In 2024, Oman made significant progress in implementing its Omanization program, which aims to increase the share of national talent in various sectors of the economy.
According to the Omani Ministry of Labor, by the end of November 2024, the national labor force stood at approximately 30,993, exceeding the target of employing 1,000 Omanis this year. To achieve this, the Ministry implemented 265 initiatives in collaboration with development partners to enhance the technical skills of the national workforce.
"Omanization imposes certain obligations on employers, including established quotas for the employment of Omanis in various sectors. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in sanctions and limit the company’s opportunities in the labor market. Businesses need to closely monitor changes in legislation and adapt their HR strategies in accordance with government priorities."
